Welcome to KS1
1H - Miss Halstead, Mr Ramsden & Miss Saidy.
1/2CF - Mrs Chaplin, Miss Fallon and Miss Ramsden.
2D - Mr Dickinson & Miss Newbould.
We had a visit from a real pirate and he showed us some of his pirate things like a musket, grenado and 'pieces of eight' silver coins.
We went on a treasure hunt around school using a tattered, old map! We then wrote recounts about what happened using time openers, past tense verbs and conjunctions.
This half term we will be learning about pirates! We received a letter from a pirate and we used his map to find the treasure! We will be learning about the world's continents and oceans, as well as what life was like as a pirate.
This half term we learnt about toys. We compared new and old toys and create timelines to order toys. In science, we learnt about different materials and their properties.
Also this half term, we also had our Christmas production!
During the autumn term, we settled into our new classroom and got to know our new routines.
Our first topic was about Where we live. We learnt about our local area and the countries that make up the UK. We had a walk around our school and labelled maps of Baildon.
Some children were chosen to help Paula plant some new trees in the woodland area.
We used potatoes to do some printing influenced by L S Lowry. Can you see the buildings?
As part of our topic, Where We Live, we went for a walk around our local area and looked at the different types of buildings. We saw lots of different types of houses. We also have a church and some shops near our school too.
All KS1 classes have PE on a Wednesday
In addition, 1H and 2D have PE on Thursday and 1/2CF have PE on Tuesday.
Please ensure your child has their correct PE kit in school and it is clearly labelled with your child's name.
Your child will bring their spelling and mental maths books home. Spellings are individual and need to be learnt and revisited throughout the week. Your child will have a short spelling test the following week. Mental maths tasks are best learnt on a 'little and often' basis.
Please remember to bring your spelling and mental maths books every week to receive the new homework.
